Diagnosis:

Me and mum got to the norfolk and norwich university hospital and we went to the ward AMUK (Acute Medical Unit (K)) which is a mens ward. even though it was a mens ward it had a clinic on there in the day for emergancy gp referrals which is where I was sent by my doctor who I saw earlier. I got there and gave my name at reception and they told me to have a seat in the waiting room. I then realised that I had been here before when I got told I had pneumonia.

I was then saying to mum how bored I was and mum was saying how she hope were not up here too long as she had to take one of my younger cousins to kingslynn hospital for a important checkup.

I was called in and seen by a Male nurse who toke some blood from my arm. I was very scared of needles so I got mum to hold my hand. After my blood was taken I was told to go back in the waiting room and wait to be seen again by a doctor once my blood results are back.

A little while later I was called again to see a doctor this time. He asked me questions of illness history and then he did a physical check, I cant really remember it all but one thing he did was tap on my stomach and sides saying "does this hurt", I looked at him quite strangely and said "no", "why?". He then told me that they needed to do a few more tests on my blood ( and have a look at my blood under a microscope) and they are sending it to another hospital to do these tests as it looks like my white blood cells are abnormal and there is alot of them. The doctor said " go have another sit in the waiting room and once they are back we will see you". By this point me and mum was incredibly bored we thought we was going to get sent away with some iron tablets or maybe I had some kind of infection. We then searched abnormal white blood cells on google and the first thing that came up was blood cancer I looked at mum and she looked and me and we said that wouldnt be that and we thought google was being dramatic telling you the worst case scenario.

**the next bit of my story is very blurred but it went approximately like this**

A little while later I was called by the doctor..............

Me and mum got taken to a very small room with 4 chairs in it on AMUK, and then I met a lady called dr angela collins and a specialist nurse called liz, they was also a few other nurses there also in this small tiny room with me and mum.

Dr collins said we have your results back and unfortunately you have LEUKEMIA!!! I was in utter shock and words cannot describe how I was feeling. I literally burst into tears and was speechless, I finally managed to speak and said "what does that mean", the doctors proceeded to tell me and I was devastated. I was like I have work tomorrow, am I going to loose my hair?, am I going to be able to have children? I had alot of questions which I asked. The dr answered and said yes you are going to loose your hair about 2 weeks after chemo starts, and regarding having children we have to see what happens in the future after you have had treatment. I was then told I was being admitted and got told I could choose to stay here or be transferred to addenbrookes depending on my condition.

After I was told mum had to leave me in the small tiny room and go take my little cousin to hospital for his appointment as it was  very important appointment for him as he was very poorly when he was 3. I said a upset goodbye to mum and she said she will see me when she comes back with my bits and pieces ready for my hospital stay. I was admitted then and had to sign lots of paper work. I was then on my own in the small room as the nurses and doctors had to go to sort out my treatment and procedures.

A couple of hours later I was taken down to surgery to have my hickman line fitted.

When I finally got back to AMUK, it was several hours later,  i was ported back on a temporary bed, my mum and dad and brother was all waiting for me with my bits and Bob's ready for my stay.
